Way to go Barbara...

This is a shout out to Pauline--Barbara's mom in Boston--who's been reading my blog at 6:30 in the morning! God love you! Check out Barbara's blocks. She started a Blue Underground Studios pattern in Amy Walsh's color class in September and has returned to the November studio group to work her magic on the design wall. This stunning quilt is starting to take shape. We'll keep you posted.
more works in progress...

Jan is busy working on yet another stack-and-whack quilt top--this one using Kaffe Fassett's new pastel Targets fabric. Just check out the spin on these blocks!

Meanwhile our friend Jill is getting down to business with a big bed sized Urban Amish inspired by Joel Dewberry's new fabrics. This one is sure to be a hit with muted colors of sage and olive greens, golden browns and soft aqua turquoise. We'll definitely keep you posted with pictures as this develops.
And finally, the end is nearly in sight for my new giant sized Kaffe Fassett Hot Diamonds quilt top! Truth be told, I had to take a little break from this one for a few days. I got cocky and didn't pin my diagonal seams--and the result--nothing lined up. It was just me and my seam ripper this weekend...another perfect example of "live and learn." Bias can be a bitch!

Julia's fun sock monkey baby urban amish...
Mario's stack-n-whack block
Want to make a WOW of a quilt? Then you need to check out Jan Aaron's stack-n-whack class.
Jan is using Bethany Reynold's book to make a lemoyne star block. The idea is simple--pick a large scale print fabric that pops lots of color--layer your repeats--and cut diamond shapes. Then step back--because you're not going to believe what you see--the pattern and color will spin into an amazing kaleidoscope before your very eyes!
First, start with a great fabric.....

and still more fabulous blocks!
Picture this dynamic block against a black background...Mario's working on piecing this together now. As soon as he's done, I'll take a picture and share the final result....stay tuned!
And if you think these quilts all look alike--step back--here's Theresa's version. She used Kaufman's "Feeling Groovy" 70s retro fabric for her star, popped it against some nice soft Kaffe Fassett setting fabrics (yes, Kaffe can do "soft") and produced a very special baby quilt for her new little one--aka--Miss Z.
and another--this one with bumble bees...
and--TA-DA--the quilt top!
