This class is designed to help you learn everything you need to know to get started on simple sewing projects and/or a patchwork top.
We’ll provide sewing machines and all the supplies for this session—all you need is desire and maybe a pen to take notes.
The class will cover sewing machine basics—how the machine works, different parts and functions of the machine, winding bobbins and threading. We’ll discuss different types of fabrics (cotton, knits, home dec etc) and fabric basics (grain, bias, selvage.)
After the knowledge section and some freestyle sewing practice—you’ll dive into our scrap stash and pull the fabrics you want to use in your sewing project. We’ll show you how to make a simple scrappy patchwork block which you will then sew into a pincushion—something every sewer will find useful!
Who should take this class?
- Anyone who wants to learn how to use a sewing machine.
- Those of you have a machine and need a solid refresher.
- The quilting curious—the folks who want to get a feel for patchwork before starting a bigger project.
All the supplies you need for this class are included in the class fee.
Class size is limited and the sessions fill up fast.
Students must be at least 14 years old to attend this class.
