Tuesdays August 3 & 10 @ 6:30p to 8:30p -- class is full!

Next session:

Wednesdays September 8 & 15 @ 6:30p to 8:30p

$75 + supplies

If you’ve never sewed before—or if you haven’t sewed in a long time—this is the class you’ll want to start with.  We’ll explain how to use a sewing machine and walk you through a simple tote bag project.

The first week’s class will focus on sewing machine basics—you’ll learn how to wind bobbins, thread the machine, adjust settings and troubleshoot potential problems.  And then you’ll practice sewing by making the patchwork center block for next week’s tote bag project class.

In week two we’ll focus on the tote bag construction—you’ll learn how to read a pattern, how to accurately measure and cut fabrics, pin and sew.  By the end of the class, you’ll have a fabulous new bag that’s just perfect for carrying your future sewing projects, groceries, books and/or gym stuff!

This class is limited to four students.  Supplies are included for the first night's class but you might want to bring paper and pen for taking notes.

For the second week's class, you'll need the following:

2 fat quarters for the exterior of the bag and handles

one half yard of fabric for the bag's interior

  • sharp scissors to cut fabric
  • coordinating thread
  • pins
  • seam ripper
