<p>Teacher: Susan Holton</p>
<p>In this class 2-hour class you&rsquo;ll learn the basics of machine quilting with a walking foot.&nbsp; Susan will explain how to prepare your quilt sandwich by layering the top, batting and backing fabrics.&nbsp; She'll also share tips and tricks for marking the top and creating stitching guidelines to follow.&nbsp; Finally, you'll&nbsp; practice on &ldquo;muslin sandwiches&rdquo; using simple grid patterns as surface design.</p>
<p><strong>NOTE:</strong>&nbsp; This class is designed for quilting newbies so you don&rsquo;t have to have any previous experience with machine quilting&mdash;but you do need to know how to use a sewing machine.</p>
<p><em>You&rsquo;ll work on the Singer Confidence Quilter machines in the shop so you don&rsquo;t have to bring your machine to this class.</em></p>

<p>If you know how to machine quilt with a walking foot&mdash;and you want to expand your machine quilting skills&mdash;it&rsquo;s time to try free motion work!</p>
<p>Susan will show you how to draw with a needle and thread.&nbsp; You begin with simple curved lines and then move into meandering and stippling methods.&nbsp; You&rsquo;ll learn about hand-eye coordination, body position and how to avoid wrist fatigue.&nbsp; At the end of this class you will have a free motion sampler you can take home for future reference along with Don Linn&rsquo;s book which includes 50+ free motion patterns.</p>
<p><strong>NOTE</strong>:&nbsp; This class is for students who have some machine quilting experience or have taken Susan's first session on machine quilting basics.</p>

<p><em>You&rsquo;re welcome to use our Singer Confidence sewing machines in class&mdash;but if you prefer to use your own machine&mdash;you&rsquo;ll need to have a darning foot for free motion work.</em></p>
