Machine Quilting Workshop...

Quilting the Quilt—Intro to Machine Quilting

Saturday July 24th @ 10a to 3p -- class is closed.

Next session:

Saturday August 28 @ 10a to 3p

$100 + supplies

Teacher: Susan Holton

Do you have quilt tops that need to be quilted?

Want to learn the basics of machine quilting?

In this intro class you’re going to get lots of practice time on “muslin” sandwiches as teacher Susan Holton takes you through the machine quilting practice exercises in Maurine Noble’s “Machine Quilting Made Easy” book (included in the class fee.)

You’ll learn how to use the standard walking foot for straight line design and then you’ll move on to free motion quilting with a darning foot.

Susan will also discuss layering your quilt sandwich, basting and marking techniques. You can spend the class time practicing your technique or jump in and work on one of your own small quilt tops.

Supply list...

  • Book (included in class fee)
  • Thread (to contrast with muslin)
  • Fabric marker
  • #2 or #3 safety pins
  • Machine Quilting Gloves (optional)
  • Paper and pen for taking notes

We'll provide muslin sandwiches for you to practice on.
