Binding Workshop...

Binding Workshop

$40

Teacher: Colette Cogley

Learn to finish off your quilts with french binding--a sturdy and polished edging!

We'll show you how to attach strips of fabrics into one long continuous piece of binding.  Then we'll walk you through attaching this long binding strip to your quilt top.  You'll learn how to turn corners with a mitered fold and attach the final seam.   Finally, we'll demo the simple hand sewing technique for sewing down the binding to the back of your quilt--my favorite part!

Supply list...

  • quilt or practice piece to bind (placements and hot pads are good too!)
  • Binding fabric (yardage depends on the size of your quilt but you can figure the amount based on cutting 2.25" strips.)
  • Thread to match binding fabric
  • Rotary cutter, scissors, seam ripper and straight pins
  • Hand sewing needle (thimble optional)

Since you need to have your quilting finished in order to add binding, it's been difficult to coordinate group classes.  I'm available to help walk you through a semi-private binding class on Thursday nights  or on Saturday mornings.  Please email me info@quiltology.com to schedule a date and time---ccc.
